Robin K. (Rikki) Ovitsh, MD is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and the Associate Dean of Clinical Competencies at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine.  She helped lead a major curricular reform and now oversees the curricular design, implementation, management, faculty development and assessment of five of Downstate’s six Domains of Competence, specifically, Interpersonal Skills, Patient Care, Professionalism, Problem Based Learning and Improvement and Systems Based Practice.  Dr. Ovitsh is president elect of the national organization Directors of Clinical Skills Education (DOCS), an affiliate of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).  DOCS promotes scholarship, establishes best practices, and encourages the exchange of ideas across the continuum of clinical skills education. Dr. Ovitsh also serves on the national committee of the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) section for the American Academy of Medical Colleges (AAMC), as a representative for the Northeast Group on Educational Affairs (NEGEA). Her scholarly interests include medical education and assessment of clinical skills, the integration of basic and clinical science education, and clinical reasoning education and assessment.
