The Associate Dean for Diversity Education and Research oversees an array of pipeline
programs from middle school through undergraduate programs. She develops medical education
curriculum on health equity and social determinants of health. She chairs the Health
Equity and Social Justice Work Group of the College of Medicine.
In addition to her administrative role at SUNY Downstate, she teaches first year medical
students, trains junior faculty in research methodology, conducts research addressing
health disparities and social determinants, sits on NIH study sections. Prior to joining
SUNY Downstate, she was the Principal investigator of the NIH funded Center of Excellence
for Disparities Research and Community Engagement and chaired the Health Disparities
and Equity Promotion Study Section of the NIH.
