Our Services

The Student Counseling Center provides free, professional, and confidential personal counseling services. At Downstate, students have an opportunity to talk to a licensed clinical psychologist who is a skilled listener. Enrolled students may receive short-term counseling throughout their professional education and training.

To accommodate the varied needs of students, counseling services are designed to support student success. Services support the academic potential of students by enhancing their personal development as well as their psychosocial and emotional health.

Effective counseling requires an atmosphere of trust. We take your rights to confidentiality and privacy very seriously. Records of your visits to the Student Counseling Service are never released to anyone on or off campus without your written permission, except when required by law. No counseling information is included in a student’s academic record.

For any questions or to schedule an appointment, contact counseling@downstate.edu.
