Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
The GME Office developed the Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Housestaff council in 2020 in the wake of the murder of George Floyd in an effort to streamline projects across multiple residencies and to provide adequate support, resident personnel and resources to projects. The ultimate goal of this council is to eliminate racial health care disparities by increasing sustained diversity in health care, increasing community engagement, implementing research in social determinants of health and racism, introducing advocacy and social justice into resident curricula. These are substantial goals requiring years of hard work and sustainability - and our creative, passionate residents are an excellent resource to set the work in motion.
