    Dr. Shwetha Phatarpekar is a Lead Bench Scientist at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University's Institute for Genomics in Health, where she specializes in advanced genomic techniques and neuroscience research. Her expertise spans RNA sequencing, single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, bioinformatics, and behavioral neuroscience, with a focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying memory formation and neurological disorders.

    Dr. Phatarpekar earned her Ph.D. in Neural and Behavioral Sciences from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and holds an M.S. in Bioinformatics and Stem Cell Technology from California State University Channel Islands. Her academic training is complemented by industry experience at Janssen Pharmaceutical R&D (Johnson & Johnson), where she served as an Assistant Neuroscientist, and distinguished research fellowships including a California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) Fellowship at the Scripps Research Institute.
