Diana Weaver, M.D. is a 1992 graduate of the SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University College of Medicine and undertook all of her post-graduate training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology at SUNY Downstate and NYC Health + Hospitals/ Kings County.
She is currently an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at SUNY Downstate and has been Director of the Pediatric Pulmonary and Asthma Service at NYC Health +Hospitals/ Kings County since May, 2000. Under her directorship, the program has greatly expanded and has participated in several projects and initiatives to address the epidemic of pediatric asthma in Central Brooklyn and how racial and economic health disparities affect children with asthma in our community. She has worked extensively with the NYC DOH, the NYC DOH Office of School Health, the DSRIP CHW Asthma Home Management Program, and the NYC H+H Asthma Council to address adverse social determinants of health in Central Brooklyn.
Dr. Weaver’s specific areas of interest include health disparities, health literacy, and use of technology and patient education to improve patient care and empower families living with childhood asthma in self-management of this disease. In addition to pediatric asthma, Dr. Weaver’s additional areas of clinical interest include management of pediatric tuberculosis, obstructive sleep apnea, care of the preterm infant with lung disease, and pulmonary complications of sickle cell disease. She is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and member of the American Thoracic Society and American College of Chest Physicians.
