In 2005, I joined the faculty at SUNY Downstate Medical Center (SUNYDMC) in Brooklyn and in 2016 became director of High-Risk Neurodevelopmental Follow-up NICU Clinic and Associate Program Director of Pediatric Residency Program. I am a neonatologist with an interest in nutrition, neurodevelopmental outcomes and Global Health Initiative.
Over the years I was involved in translational research looking at nutritional factors and gut immunology in preterm newborns, drug trial studies, clinical research was involved assessing maternal and neonatal obesity, effects of gestational diabetes on maternal, perinatal and neonatal outcomes in low socioeconomic area of Brooklyn. Currently, I have expanded my work into area of neurodevelopmental outcomes of preterm babies. Internationally, I am involved in the global health projects to improve advance neonatal care in low and middle income countries. A major goal of my career is to improve advance newborn care of newborns in high risk population, to improve survival and long-term neurodevelopment outcomes of newborns locally and internationally.

Research Interests
Neonatal nutrition, gut immunology in preterm newborns, drug trial studies, neonatal obesity, effects of gestational diabetes on maternal, perinatal and neonatal outcomes, neurodevelopmental outcomes of preterm babies. Global Health in Neonatology – improving advance newborn care in low- and middle-income countries.
