Patricia A. Winston, DNP, MS, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE

Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
University Hospital at Downstate

    Dr. Winston was named the Senior Vice President for Hospital Operations at University Hospital at Downstate (UHD) in September 2020, following an 18-month appointment as Interim Chief Executive Officer of University Hospital at Downstate (UHD). As the Interim CEO, Dr. Winston guided UHD through one of the most significant global health crises in more than a century working with staff—both hospital and system—as well as leadership and public health officials.

    Dr. Winston has received awards from the American College of Healthcare Executives, Girls, Inc., the National Association of University Women Community Service Award, and YMCA of Delaware Black Achievers in Business and Industry Award. She was named to Crain's inaugural list of Notable Women in Healthcare, and The Network Journal 25 Influential Black Women in Business. Dr. Winston earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from The George Washington University, her RN diploma from the Nursing School of Wilmington, Delaware, and a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from West Chester University in PA. She is board certified in Nursing Administration and a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives.
