Wren Lester, Ph.D., CPXP, CPHQ

Chief Experience Officer
University Hospital at Downstate

    Dr. Lester is the Chief Experience Officer at the University Hospital at Downstate. Recently, she was appointed transformation leader for the Hospital’s High Reliability Organization (HRO) Journey focused on improving the way care is delivered and preventing harm to the workforce, patients and community. In 2020, Dr. Lester was invited to serve on Press Ganey’s National Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Client Advisory Council in support of advancing health equity nationally and within the Brooklyn community.  Dr. Lester has been a key contributor to securing grant funding for several projects to improve the Patient Experience such as the Central Brooklyn Health Equity Index, and our Workforce Recharge Room to enhance employee rejuvenation and resilience.

    She has earned certifications as a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, a Certified Patient Experience Professional (CPXP), and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). She is a published author of book called: “Preparing Your Patient Safety” Program for a JCAHO Survey”, and is a 2017 Administrative Fellow for America’s Essential Hospitals (AEH). Dr. Lester completed her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree at Seton Hall University in Health Sciences Leadership and Organizational Development. Dr. Lester completed her Masters of Science (MS) degree in Health Care Administration, and her Bachelors of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology at Rutgers University.
