Dr. Vigorita is a Board Certified pathologist. Born In Brooklyn, he attended Poly Prep Country Day School , Williams College in Massachusetts, New York Medical College and did his residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and fellowship in pathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

After 4 years on staff at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan he was appointed and served for 20 years as Director of Laboratories at the Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn which is now renamed and part of the NYU Langone Health system. He served as the medical director of the hospital and director of medical education for 10 years before entering private practice.

His interest is in orthopaedic pathology in which he has published 96 papers in the peer-reviewed medical literatures. His a co-author of several books in the field and solo author of his textbook ORTHOPAEDIC PATHOLOGY now in its' 3rd edition and favorably reviewed in the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and JAMA-the Journal of the American Medical Association. The course he developed on orthopaedic pathology has been taught over many years at Lenox Hill Hospital, SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Maimonides Medical Center, Winthrop University Hospital and New York Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital.
