Upon graduation of medical school at the University of Rochester, Dr. Augenbraun pursued his residency at North Shore University Hospital and Infectious Diseases fellowship at SUNY Downstate. He is currently the Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Fellowship Program Director at SUNY Downstate/Kings County. He is also Professor of Medicine and of Epidemiology at SUNY Downstate, and Vice Chairman for the Department of Internal Medicine. His professional and research interests include sexually transmitted infections, HIV, hospital epidemiology, and history of medicine.
