Dr. Marylin Pierre-Louis joined Downstate in June 2024 as the Medical Director of Suite B, the family medicine health center located at the hospital, which has been serving the local community for many years. Dr. Pierre-Louis is deeply aligned with the mission and vision of Downstate.
Born to Haitian parents and raised in Queens, Dr. Pierre-Louis is a proud graduate of Temple University. She completed her residency at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ, and pursued a geriatrics fellowship at UMDNJ. With over 20 years of medical practice in New Jersey, Dr. Pierre-Louis has extensive experience in various settings, including outpatient, inpatient, assisted living, nursing homes, and hospice care.
Board Certified in both Family Medicine and Geriatrics, Dr. Pierre-Louis has also been certified in Palliative Care. Her primary areas of focus are dementia, delirium, and polypharmacy. She has taught Geriatrics and Family Medicine at two different residency programs in NJ and has mentored countless medical students and residents across various locations.
As an Associate Professor at Downstate, Dr. Pierre-Louis is actively involved in several clinical research studies focusing on preventive measures. She is a dedicated member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, having served on its Board of Directors, and is also a member of the American Geriatrics Society.
Dr. Pierre-Louis is passionate about her role as the Medical Director of Suite B, where she continues to make significant contributions to the community and the field of medicine
