Bridgette Stevens, MBA, CPA, is a senior financial and administrative leader at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, where she serves as Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Principal Business Officer for the College of Medicine and Graduate School. She provides strategic financial and operational leadership for a portfolio supporting the university's educational, research, and clinical missions.
Ms. Stevens leads financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, resource allocation, and financial reporting while overseeing key administrative functions, including workforce planning, faculty recruitment and staffing, organizational operations, and institutional compliance. She works closely with university leadership and college executives on financial strategy, institutional planning, and initiatives that promote fiscal sustainability and operational effectiveness. She also contributes to institutional governance through participation in key leadership and financial committees.
Prior to joining SUNY Downstate, Ms. Stevens served as Vice President of Finance at BTQ Financial, providing financial leadership and advisory services as a Chief Financial Officer to various nonprofit organizations. She previously held progressively responsible financial leadership positions at Meharry Medical College, serving as Fiscal Officer in the College of Medicine and Director of Fiscal Affairs and Title III in the Office of the President. Her experience includes oversight of complex departmental budgets, federal grant administration, financial reporting, and fiscal management in support of academic and institutional priorities.
Ms. Stevens has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to academic excellence. She was recognized as a top business student in Jamaica, an achievement that earned her a full scholarship to Fisk University. At Fisk, she graduated with a 3.93 GPA and was recognized as the top business student. She subsequently earned her MBA in Accounting from Tennessee State University with a 4.0 GPA, graduating as the top MBA student in her program. Her professional accomplishments have also been recognized through receipt of the Tennessee CPA Award.
Ms. Stevens holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Fisk University and a Master of Business Administration in Accounting from Tennessee State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in New York State.
