Jamie J. Grecco, JD

Jamie J. Grecco, JD, is the Chief Human Resources Officer, Senior Vice President, and Chief of Staff at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University (Downstate). With extensive expertise in labor law, compliance, and human capital strategy, he plays a key leadership role in shaping the institution’s workforce policies and executive operations. As a member of the President's Cabinet, he works closely with senior university and hospital executives, including the deans of Downstate’s five academic colleges, to advance strategic initiatives.

Prior to joining Downstate, Mr. Grecco served as Director of Redeployment and Realignment at NYC Health + Hospitals’ Central Office, where he managed employee relations cases and led realignment initiatives. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a critical role as the primary labor relations contact for the NYC Test & Trace Corps, advising on federal, state, and employment laws.

Before his tenure at NYC Health + Hospitals’ Central Office, Jamie Grecco was the inaugural Director of Human Resources for NYC Health + Hospitals’ Post-Acute Care service line, overseeing HR operations for five skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), a long-term acute care hospital (LTACH), and an adult day healthcare program. Prior to this, he served as Chief People Officer at NYC Health + Hospitals/North Bronx Healthcare Network.

Mr. Grecco earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from St. Joseph’s University (Brooklyn, NY) and later obtained his Juris Doctor (JD) from Touro Law School (Central Islip, NY). He is also a 2014 America’s Essential Hospitals Fellow.
