White Coat Ceremony

White Coat 2018

In front of hundreds of family, friends, and well-wishers, the Class of 2023 enjoyed one of the most exciting aspects of starting medical school, the prestigious White Coat Ceremony, a symbol of entry into the profession of medicine and a defining moment for first year medical students.

The White Coat ceremony symbolizes the first step as a medical professional and the start of your responsibility where you are expected to demonstrate respect, become a teacher, and embody humanism.

Created by Dr. Arnold P. Gold, the White Coat Ceremony was to establish defined guidelines about the expectations and responsibilities for medical professionals BEFORE students begin to train. Presenting the white medical coat to students is symbolic of the desire to do right by patients and by the profession.

Congratulations, Class of 2027, on your successful first step as a medical professional.
