Fellowships and Career Development

Get More Out of Your PhD Training

Your Manager for Career and Professional Development is here to help

Welcome to the Fellowships and Career Development webpage of the SUNY Downstate School of Graduate Studies! Our career development office is headed by the Manager of Career and Professional Development, Dr. Justine Lottermoser (justine.lottermoser@downstate.edu).

The Manager of Career and Professional Development fills the gaps in mentorship provided by faculty. Faculty's time is in demand for thesis advising, lab mangement, grant writing, teaching, and other administrative responsibilities. The Manager of Career and Professional Development mentors PhD/MD-PhD trainees and Postdocs in:

  • managing mental well-being amidst social stigma
  • navigating graduate school and a thesis project
  • crafting fellowship funding applications

Click through the links listed "In This Section" on the right to learn more about what the career development office can do for you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the Manager of Career and Professional Development with any questions or to schedule a 1-on-1 meeting.
