Audio Visual Services
On Call (Tier 1)
Audio Visual support is provided in all shared campus spaces that are schedule by Classroom Services. You can reach AV by calling x1215 or (718) 270-1215 during business hours: 8:00 am - 5:00pm, M-Fr. or by emailing AVAssist@downstate.edu. You may call us using your mobile or the installed house phones in our supported spaces, which have Classroom Services, Security, and Facilities on speed dial.
Break Fix (Tier 2)
Supported rooms are proactively maintained in working order according to University standards. If you find anything not working, or need support in using the equipment call x1215 or email AVAssist@downstate.edu
Rooms that are not covered by Tier 1 support will be covered by Classroom Services at the Tier 2 level on a best effort basis.
By request, we will evaluate any existing AV systems in rooms that are not shared or scheduled by Classroom Services. If repairs or upgrades are necessary, we will provide a consultation to evaluate your needs and make recommendations to either restore the system to its original designed functionality or upgrade it to meet University standards. Any costs for repairs or replacement beyond our internal consultation will be borne by the department that manages the space. In some cases, other funding is available (see Tier 3).
AV Systems Design (Tier 3)
Classroom Services works to maintain all shared spaces according to standards that allow us to efficiently support, maintain, and upgrade them consistently, and provide a consistent user experience across rooms.
If you have an AV system in your department controlled space, our design consultation services are available to make repairs, upgrades, or replacements. These services are available on a best effort basis. Your department responsible for funding the equipment and labor costs. In rooms that support student teaching and/or the academic mission, there may be funding available through the Student Tech Fee or the Academic Equipment Refresh operational budget.
