Congratulations to the Radiology Department under the leadership of Deborah Reede, M.D., Department Chair, on the installation of a brand-new CT scanner. This state-of-the-art technology represents a significant advancement in our commitment to providing top-notch and enhanced diagnostic capabilities to our patients.

The new CT scanner boasts a range of innovative features designed to prioritize patient comfort and safety. Its streamlined design and user-friendly interface ensure a seamless and stress-free scanning experience for patients, while advanced radiation dose reduction technologies prioritize safety without compromising image quality. Our radiology team will be able to obtain highly detailed images of the body's internal structures with clarity and precision, resulting in faster and more accurate diagnoses and better treatment outcomes for our patients.

The project involved a thorough gut renovation of the room and the replacement of the CT scanner that was originally installed back in 2011. This initiative forms part of a larger program aimed at upgrading two CT scan rooms, along with three X-ray and fluoroscopy rooms, all slated for completion by this fall. To ensure uninterrupted patient services during the renovation, a mobile CT unit has been stationed on E. 37th Street for the duration of the project.

To date, two X-ray rooms have already been successfully upgraded, with construction underway for the third X-ray room, complete with fluoroscopy capabilities. Construction of the second CT scanner is scheduled to begin soon. The renovations encompass upgraded finishes, lighting, electrical services, and IT infrastructure enhancements, all aimed at delivering improved healthcare facilities and services to our patients.

This CT scanner is the newest addition to our and patient care. Additional CT scanner and X-Ray rooms are also underway. Last fall, we proudly cut the ribbon on our new interventional radiology suite.

I also extend heartfelt appreciation to the UHD Radiology team under the leadership of Deborah Reede, M.D., Department of Radiology Chair and Professor, Tina L.
