Our Transplant Team treats every patient with the highest level of care. But our team
also does something else. Every patient is also treated with kindness, compassionate
respect, and individualized care. Below is a testament to the great job done that
by every element of our Transplant Team, including Perioperative Services, Nursing,
and the Clinical Lab, to name a few.
We would like to thank and congratulate the entire Transplant Team for demonstrating
that we provide fantastic care to our patients and their families. Please see the
letter from an appreciative patient below to see what truly makes Downstate great:
Dear Dr. Tashma Watson,
On the morning of Friday, October 14, my husband underwent a two part surgical procedure.
I was texted to come to the recovery room after the operation was finally over, and
what we experienced and witnessed during the recovery room stay was quite amazing.
The staff was extremely kind, caring, patient and supportive to the both of us. They
worked seamlessly as a team and helped each other care for all the patients even though
they were assigned to specific ones.
My husband developed an issue requiring catheterization which prolonged his stay in
recovery for quite some time and through all the long hours they remained attentive,
patient, supportive, and encouraging. They explained that his issue was not uncommon
after anesthesia and put our minds at ease. They cared about my welfare as much as
they did for my husband’s, periodically checking if I ate or needed anything.
I specifically want to mention and thank Nurse Lindsay, Nurse Helen, Nurse Melody
and Telford. They worked tirelessly attending to all the patients under their care
and made our experience as comfortable and as pleasant as it could have been under
the circumstances.
My husband and I are so grateful that we received such outstanding care and would
like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of them. We would like to send a small
sweet treat as a token of our appreciation for all of their hard work.
Thank You,
Merryl and Mark
