Department of Medicine

Aims & Highlights

Program Aims

Residents in our program will learn to engage high risk populations by leading multidisciplinary teams who work together to innovate using data from our patient panels to improve outcomes. With a focus on practice-based learning, residents will utilize quality improvement tools to create innovative models for healthcare delivery to manage an efficient, satisfying, patient-centered ambulatory practice. Residents will participate in healthcare advocacy and longitudinal quality improvement projects which reach beyond the walls of the hospital to share medical knowledge and scholarly activity with peers and the community we serve. An enhanced integrated behavioral medicine experience will give residents an opportunity to engage in systems-based practice, combining resources across the healthcare system to provide optimal health care.  Curricula/electives emphasizing primary care skills, including patient-centered/motivational interviewing and teaching will prepare residents to provide compassionate, appropriate patient care using effective communication with one another and with their patients.
