Arlene L. Mbonu, PhD, MA

Dr. Arlene L. Mbonu joined the School of Public Health in 2009 and serves as the Coordinator for Strategic Partnerships. She assists the school with recruitment initiatives and alumni engagement, research, and activities. Prior to arriving at SUNY Downstate, Dr. Mbonu focused on improving educational access and equity for underserved communities in New York City. She worked as STEP Coordinator for CUNY New York City College of Technology and Education Director for the Boys and Girls Club of America.

A graduate of Cornell University, College of Arts and Sciences, SUNY Empire State College, and Stony Brook University, Dr. Mbonu has remained consistent in her commitment to servant leadership particularly as a mentor for high school students and undergraduates as well as a crisis counselor during her free time.
