Background & Expertise:

Robert R. Karpman, M.D., M.B.A is currently the Director of the Master of Healthcare Administration and Clinical Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at SUNY Downstate School of Public Health. As a busy clinician and educator, he developed a high quality medical, graduate medical, and continuing medical education program in Phoenix. He authored a book on Geriatric Musculoskeletal Disease, several book chapters, and 28 articles in peer review publications. 

Following his clinical career, he became a chief medical officer at two community hospitals. Since the summer of 2015, he has been on the faculty at Cornell University, first in Biomedical Engineering and later, the S.C. Johnson College of Business. 

He served as the director of the Business Minor for Life Science Majors in the Dyson School for Applied Economics and Management. He was appointed as a Professor of Practice and member of the Graduate Faculty in Applied Economics and Management. 

Dr. Karpman created several unique courses to the curriculum to encourage students in the Life Sciences to pursue business and management skills during their undergraduate experience. He served as a mentor in the Blackstone Launchpad Program at Cornell and created a seven course E Cornell online certificate program in business and management skills for healthcare professionals. 

He is the founder and CEO of Geri-Safe Ltd., a start-up company whose mission is to develop and manufacture innovative technology to improve the safety and well-being of elderly individuals.
