    Dionne Avery, Family Nurse Practitioner, earned a Master of Science degree in Family Advanced Practice Nursing from Columbia University in 2016. While studying at Columbia, Ms. Avery took additional courses in women's health, and worked as a registered nurse for people living with HIV/AIDS.

    Ms. Avery earned a BS in biology from Brooklyn College in 2004, and an MA in Liberal Studies with a focus in Gender Studies from the CUNY Graduate Center in 2010. She is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, and the Sigma Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

    Prior to attending nursing school, Ms. Avery worked at John Jay College as educational coordinator, collaborating with students and faculty on gender justice, women's health and LGBTQ issues. She was also volunteer, full-spectrum doula with the Doula Project, an NYC-based organization that provides free compassionate care and support to pregnant women.

    Ms. Avery's interests include women's health, infectious disease, urban family medicine, and public health.
