Cai McPhee, EdD, RN, AHN-BC, PMHNP-BC

Associate Professor
College of Nursing

Dr. McPhee is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist, with Advanced Holistic Nursing Board Certification and ANCC Board Certified, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She is an Associate Professor of Nursing at SUNY Downstate, College of Nursing and currently practices as a Clinical Specialist, Holistic Nurse.

Dr. McPhee holds certifications in Yoga, Hypnosis, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. Many have benefitted from her lectures on self-care for nurses, philosophy and science of Holistic Nursing, complementary methods and non-pharmacological modalities for pain management, mindful communication, and Prepare for Surgery, Health Faster™ workshops. She is a 500-hour Yoga Alliance, Registered Yoga Teacher with certifications in Hatha and Kundalini Yoga.

Dr. McPhee, for over 30 years, has been dedicated and passionate about promoting holistic health with patients at the bedside, students on campus and in the classroom, and fellow nurses.  Her research interests focus on nurses in the workforce, their health, wellbeing, resilience, and compassion in the workplace.

Dr. McPhee’s professional experiences consist of over 30 years in academic, undergraduate and graduate, pedagogy in Nursing, Campus Health Nursing, Physical Rehabilitation, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.  Her language proficiency includes Portuguese, Spanish, and French, which facilitates her passion for working holistically with diverse and multicultural populations.
