Office of Diversity, Education, and Research
College of Medicine
Mr. Chukwuka “Chuka” Anyene joined our team in 2021 and serves as a Program Coordinator. Prior to arriving at Downstate, Mr. Anyene received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University. During his time there, he obtained a degree in nutritional science and worked closely with groups focused on fostering dialogue around social identity, race, equity, and inclusion. Following his time at Cornell, Mr. Anyene worked as a consultant for 45 Lemons. In this role, he gained experience bolstering diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives for education based organizations.
At Downstate, Mr. Anyene will offer support to the Office of Diversity, Education, and Research through the Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) and the Black Male Initiative (BMI). He understands that underrepresented and minority groups face barriers that may hinder their ability to get into healthcare fields and higher education. His work with these programs will assist in breaking down these barriers and helping students reach their full potential.
