About the College of Medicine

When the College of Medicine was founded 140 years ago, it revolutionized medical education in the United States. It was the first medical school founded within a hospital, making bedside training an integral part of students' education.

Today, the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine is committed to educating doctors from all backgrounds for a diverse workforce in the fight against health disparities.

Office of Medical Education

The Office of Medical Education supports the undergraduate educational programs of the College of Medicine. It provides administrative support for the curriculum, assures uniform policies and practices, oversees ongoing quality assurance and coordinates implementation of curricular innovations.

Dean's Office

The Office of the Dean is open Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., telephone (718) 270-3776.

Our office provides information about the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) and Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
