Information for Transplant Donors
The procedure for kidney donation includes a final test called a CT Angiogram. This is a test used to identify the anatomy of your kidneys and helps the doctors identify which kidney will be removed for donation. It also ensures that you actually have two kidneys because, surprisingly, some people are born with only one. Since we only need one kidney to live a perfectly healthy life, those born with one kidney are usually unaware of it unless tested.
The CT Angiogram will be done on the same day as your pre-surgical testing in order to minimize the number of visits required for testing.
Please do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have regarding this procedure.
