Re: Status Update on Operations
Operations at Central Brooklyn, LICH, and Bay Ridge campuses are proceeding smoothly on normal weekend operating schedules. No significant issues have been reported. Both campuses have adequate coverage. Call-ins are being mitigated with staff holdovers until relief staff arrives. ED volumes have been low and patient census is within manageable numbers.
Area buses and subways are operating normally and roads are passable. University Police is providing shuttle transportation to subways, as normal.

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for Friday through Saturday, with possible strong winds and heavy snow projected for Friday evening.
At this point in time, we are anticipating that all Downstate educational and clinical locations will remain open and operate as normal on Friday and Saturday, although it is possible that some classes at the Central Brooklyn campus may be cancelled.
Please monitor the "Weather Alert" section on the Downstate homepage for updates.
1) Students should call their individual college or 718-270-1000 and follow the prompts to their college telephone line for information on specific classes. Students who are participating in a clinical experience should follow the policies of their assigned clinical site. Students should also monitor their email for updates.
2) All hospital and other essential employees are required to report to work. Department Heads and directors of critical services should review emergency operations plans for their areas, as well as for their individual departments, and prepare their staff.
3) All academic employees who support hospital functions must report to work.
Employees who are unable to report for work must charge the day against annual time.
