About:

Hyman Shwarzberg, M.D. has been the Director of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center University Hospital of Brooklyn (UHB) since 2005. He has been in a leadership position in Radiology for 12 years. He is an accomplished diagnostic radiologist with expertise in breast imaging, neuro-imaging, pediatric, abdominal and chest and cardiac imaging, MRI, CT, sonography mammography, and radiography. He is responsible for ongoing oversight of daily UHB radiology operations to enhance the capabilities and resources and was involved in implementation of PACS and teleradiology. He has worked to improve Emergency Department CT patient flow and standardize additional appropriate studies and worked to tighten oversight and ongoing QC documentation to assure meeting regulatory requirements. He manages the UHB radiology professional schedules and Radiology Peer Review program. He consults on cases involving general, cardiothoracic imaging, abdominal/pelvic imaging, Neuro-imaging, pediatric radiology, mammography and breast imaging. He has also worked to upgrade MRI capability to enable additional applications and patient volume; he was involved in the initiation of the stereotactic breast biopsy program at UHB.
