Academic Qualifications:
Background and Expertise: Emanuela Taioli, MD, PhD, is Professor of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and Professor of Hematology and Oncology within the School of Medicine at SUNY Downstate. She has been the Leader of the Cancer Epidemiology, Prevention, and Control (CEPC) Program at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI), and the Arnold Palmer endowed chair in Cancer Prevention. Dr. Taioli received her M.D. degree from the University of Milano (Italy) and her PhD in Epidemiology from Columbia University. Dr. Taioli has published over 200 peer reviewed papers and letters over the past twenty years, on a wide variety of topics in cancer epidemiology. Her cancer research has focused predominantly on tobacco-related cancer and individual genetic susceptibility to environmental carcinogens. She has quickly and successfully developed inter-disciplinary, institutional collaborations involving numerous University investigators from the disciplines of epidemiology, biostatistics, gynecologic oncology, genetics, and microbiology. Dr. Taioli is mentor on several individual NSRA and K-class training awards. |
