Open Enrollment for Medical & Vision Benefits 2011-2012

The annual Open Enrollment period begins September 1, 2011, and ends October 7, 2011. This is the time to enroll in the program, OR review your current benefit elections, covered dependents under your health plan, and make changes for the upcoming benefit year, then begins October 1, 2011.

During Open Enrollment you should:

  • Review the benefits you are enrolled in, including any changes in premiums or benefits
  • Decide if your choices are appropriate for you and your family in 2011-2012
  • Review the dependents you have covered under the health plan and make any necessary changes, including adding children who are full time students up to age 26
  • Complete new beneficiary forms to update your beneficiaries – while this can be done any time, it's a good idea to update your beneficiary information annually

If you do not enroll by the October 7th deadline, your current elections will remain in force for the coming year, except for any enrollment in the Dependent Care Assistance Plan or the Flexible Spending Account. You are required to re-enroll in these two plans annually even if you make no other changes.

The PDF document links on this web page include an overview of the UPB benefits and the employee discounts for the 2011 plan year. Please take the time to read all materials carefully prior to making your benefit elections.

This is the only Open Enrollment period that will be made available to you for 2011-2012 plan year. During the plan year you may only make changes to your Medical Benefits if you experience a qualified change in family status (e.g. birth/adopt a child, marriage, divorce, etc.).
