UPB is seeking a Credentialing Specialist to ensure and coordinate the expedient handling of the credentialing and re-credentialing review process for new and current providers.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the expedient handling of the credentialing and re-credentialing process according to regulatory and accreditation standards, where required.
  • Performing updates to physician, institution, and ancillary provider credentialing files.
  • Compiles all relevant information (e.g. member/healthcare provider complaints, utilization management findings, licensing issues, sanctions, malpractice cases) and ensures inclusion in the credentialing and re-credentialing file.
  • Establishes and maintains active interface with state licensing boards and other sources of primary verification to stay current with changes in licensing requirements and pending actions against providers.
  • Reviews all final credentialing and re-credentialing files prior to submission to the Credentialing committee to ensure all required elements are present and prepares summary of recommendations. May also prepare these files.
  • Processes health care professional fee negotiations.
  • Completes and notifies departments of all relevant provider file additions, changes or updates.
  • Create letters to ensure notification to health care professionals of timely licensure and certification.
  • Oversees that departmental records and files are maintained.
  • Completes other assigned functions as requested by Management. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of five years experience, three at the supervisory level, and in a healthcare setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong computer skills

UPB is seeking a Medical/Surgical Biller to staff its practice. The incumbent will support the physicians by performing time of service billing and collection functions for patient accounts.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete registration process of patient demographic and insurance information
  • Verify insurance coverage and eligibility and other related data with third party carriers
  • Collect all cash patient balances and co-pays at the time of service
  • Create a payment batch and ensure all payments collected balance at the end of the day
  • Review charge documents/encounter forms for completion by physician, enters ICD9/CPT codes for each clinical encounter, and ensures insurance authorization is added to the claim
  • Advises supervisor of any delays in physician submissions and missing encounters
  • Enter all physician charges and diagnosis codes accurately in the system
  • Reconcile charges entered with encounter forms to ensure all documents are posted
  • Input charges, payments and adjustments to computerized system or posting to manual records
  • Reconcile charges and payments batches and balances to system daily
  • Reconcile payment postings with bank deposits daily
  • Perform day end review of claims entered and make appropriate changes to update claims in HOLD buckets
  • Monitor variances and discrepancies in reimbursement of payment schedules from third party payors, all cash payment deposits and refunds
  • Manage accounts receivable, follow up and collections with all third party payors for claim adjudication
  • Submits requested documentation to payors and escalates issues in account processing to supervisor

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or the equivalent required
  • Two to three years physician billing, accounts receivable and collections experience required
  • Certified ICD-9 & 10 coding, CPT and modifier coding required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Athena software systems required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of third party insurance policies, ICD-9 & 10, CPT and modifier coding
  • Completion of accredited coding education and current coding certification preferred
  • Two or more years of college preferred

The PRM resolves deficiencies in practice staffing or training, utilization of technology solutions and ensures adherence to standardized policies and procedures.
