News – Spring 2009

In February, 2009, under the leadership of Stanley E. Fisher, MD, The Children's Hospital at Downstate, SUNY Downstate Medical Center was officially designated as a Children's Hospital (within a hospital) by the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions. The Children's Hospital at Downstate is the second children's hospital in Brooklyn to have been given this designation.

"Participation in NACHRI offers us a vast communications network with people who understand children: their needs, their treatment and the financing of their care", said Stanley Fisher, Professor, Chair, Pediatrics. "We look forward to bringing our insights to the association and joining in the imperative for stronger advocacy on behalf of all children."
