Dr. Parmar has been appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology and in the leadership role of Chief of the Division of Head and Neck Surgery for SUNY/Downstate Medical Center and University Hospital of Brooklyn. Dr. Parmar comes to us upon completing an American Head and Neck Society's Advanced Training Council-sponsored fellowship in head and neck surgery at The University of Toronto. His special expertise and primary interest is in the surgical treatment of benign and malignant tumors in the head and neck, including tumors of the thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, salivary glands, oral cavity, larynx, and head and neck skin cancer. As a surgeon actively involved in the care of patients with head and neck cancer, he has extensive experience in surgery and an in-depth understanding of each of the disciplines involved in the treatment of head and neck cancer. His philosophy to treat the whole patient, not just the cancer, serves as the basis for his approach.
Dr. Parmar is a graduate of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the Otolaryngology Residency Program at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He completed his fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Toronto under the direction of Drs. Patrick Gullane and Jeremy Freeman. He is board-certified in otolaryngology and is a diplomate of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
