Gady Har-El, MD, is a Professor of Otolaryngology and Professor of Clinical Neurosurgery at the State University of New York – Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Har-El is the Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital and Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Institute. Dr. Har-El is a graduate of the Otolaryngology Residency Program at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center. His clinical interests include head and neck cancer, skull-base surgery, and sinus surgery. Dr. Har-El’s research interests include management and outcome analysis of head and neck cancer, quality of life in head and neck cancer, innovative techniques in skull-base surgery, and minimally invasive skull-base surgery. Dr. Har-El has authored and co-authored more than 250 scientific publications and book chapters. In 2007, Dr. Har-El completed his term as the President of The American Broncho-Esophagological Association. Dr. Har-El is currently a board member of The North American Skull-Base Society, as well as a Chairman of two committees of The American Head and Neck Society, The Finance Committee and The Prevention and Early Detection Committee. Dr. Har-El has been listed in the “Best Doctors in America” and “Best Doctors in Europe” for fifteen consecutive years (1994-2009). Dr. Har-El was also selected by Castle Connolly Medical as one of “America’s Top Doctor’s for Cancer.” Dr. Har-El is a Senior Examiner for The American Board of Otolaryngology. In 2008, Dr. Har-El received the Distinguished Service Award of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. In June 2009, he received the Stanley M. Blaugrund Award for Excellence in Teaching from New York University. In 2009, Dr. Har-El published a two-volume set “Head and Neck Surgery” which he co-edited with Dr. Chris DeSouza.
