Dr. Har-El is also Professor of Clinical Neurosurgery at the State University of New York-Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Har-El is a graduate of the Otolaryngology Residency Program at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center. His clinical interests include head and neck cancer, skull-base surgery, and sinus surgery. Dr. Har-El's research interests include management and outcome analysis of head and neck cancer, quality of life in head and neck cancer, innovative techniques in skull-base surgery, and minimally invasive skull-base surgery. Dr. Har-El established the Head and Neck Tumor Board Conferences at both Long Island College Hospital and SUNY-Downstate/Kings County Hospital. Dr. Har-El has authored and co-authored more than 225 scientific publications and book chapters. During the academic year 2006-2007, Dr. Har-El served as the President of the American Broncho-Esophological Association. Dr. Har-El has been listed in the "Best Doctors in America" and "Best Doctors in New York" for twelve consecutive years (1994-2006). Recently, Dr. Har-El was selected by Castle Connolly Medical as one of "America's Top Doctors for Cancer." This is the first time Castle Connolly published a separate top doctors issue for cancer.
