Background and Expertise:
Dr. DiMiceli is a board certified ophthalmologist who specializes in the medical and surgical management of pediatric eye disease as well as adult and childhood strabismus.
Examples of rare and common disorders which she is able to expertly treat include:
- Amblyopia or "lazy eye"
- Strabismus (crossing or drifting of the eyes)
- Nasolacrimal duct obstruction (tearing)
- Retinopathy of prematurity
- Pediatric Cataracts
- Pediatric Glaucoma
- Refractive disorders (need for glasses)
In addition to training residents and treating patients at Kings County Hospital, she also sees patients at the SUNY Downstate faculty practice offices located in the financial district of Manhattan (University Ophthalmic Consultants- 150 Broadway, Suite 502) and at the Midwood Eye clinic located in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn (2171 Nostrand Ave).
Dr. DiMiceli has participated in the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG) research which is a multi-center collaboration funded by the National Eye Institute (NEI) and the National Institute of Health (NIH). Her projects included surgical treatment of exotropia and pediatric cataracts.
