Background and Expertise
Dr. Asoma is a board-certified ophthalmologist, who specializes in the medical and surgical management of the anterior segment. He is fellowship-trained in Cornea and Keratorefractive surgery.
Dr. Asoma has office hours at the SUNY Downstate eye clinic in Midwood and Long Island College Hospital eye clinic in Cobble Hill. He has particular expertise in the following areas.
- Dry eyes
- Cataracts and lifestyle lens implantation such as Crystalens, Toric, or Multifocal implants
- Custom, bladeless LASIK vision correction and PRK
- Corneal Transplantation including DSAEK and DALK
- General eye care including diabetic eye exams and glaucoma exams
He is actively involved in resident and medical student teaching at the Kings County Hospital.
Research Interests
Dr. Asoma's interests include the medical and surgical management of complicated diseases of cornea and anterior segment. His current research interests include the clinical manifestations of keratoconus, surgical techniques in ptergyium surgery, and the epidemiology of infectious keratitis.
