By the end of the clerkship, the student should be able to:
- Demonstrate Clinical Skills in History Taking and Physical Exam
- Collect Properly and Interpret a Cervical Cytology — first line
disposition, limitations of cervical cytology
- Have a thorough Grounding in Modern Contraceptive Technology
- Formulate a Differential Diagnosis of the “Acute Abdomen” in
Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Know the Physiologic Adjustments that Accompany Normal Gestation including
lab test results
- Know Embryonic and Fetal Development — What does and does not
affect it and teratogenic agents
- Understand the Health and Well-Being of Populations — social and
health policy aspect of women’s health, ethical issues — sterilization,
abortion, domestic violence and adolescent pregnancy, access to prenatal
care.
- Understand Aspects of the Menstrual Cycle including Menopause
- Understand the Basics of Infertility
- Be familiar with Antepartum and Intrapartum Care
- Be knowledgeable about Breast Health including breast feeding
- Be knowledgeable about Vaginal and Vulvar Disorders
- Understand Sexuality of the Patient and Physician
