Men Over 40 Urged to Get Prostate Screening:

Downstate Offering Free Screenings Sep. 15 - 18

Men, wouldn't you be relieved to know that your prostate is in good health? Your family as well would be happy to learn that you care enough about them to get yourself checked.  The time to act is now.  It's quick and easy, and it's free.

The great news is that prostate cancer is a very curable if detected early.  Getting screened for prostate cancer will ensure the best possible chance of leading a long and healthy life even if you have prostate cancer.  If you do have prostate cancer, there are many options for treatment, most of which are non-surgical

If you are a man over the age of 40 you need to be screened.  Men with a family history of prostate cancer are at higher risk, as are men of African decent, who are at twice the risk of other men.

Again this year, during Prostate Cancer Awareness Week (PCAW), a national program of the Prostate Cancer Education Council, SUNY Downstate Medical Center will be conducting free prostate cancer screenings from September 15 - 19, 2008. No appointment is needed.
