Dr. Eugene Feigelson To Step Down As Dean At Suny Downstate's College Of Medicine
After 27 years of extraordinary service at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Eugene B. Feigelson, MD, will step down as the dean of the college of medicine and senior vice president for biomedical education and research.
During his time at SUNY Downstate, Dr. Feigelson has also served as the chairman of the department of psychiatry and as interim president.
“During Dr. Feigelson's tenure as dean, much has been done to improve the education experience of its students, especially, but not only, in the establishment of a substantially revised medical school curricula,” Dr. LaRosa said.
A search committee has been established to find a new dean. Dr. Feigelson will stay on board as dean until his successor is announced.
After that, Dr. Feigelson will continue to be a member of Downstate's faculty and will work to establish an Office of International Relations.
SUNY Downstate Medical Center is the only academic medical center in Brooklyn, serving more than 2 million people within the borough. SUNY Downstate is located at 450 Clarkson Avenue.
