Department of Neurosurgery


SUNY Downstate Medical Center offers a range of surgical treatments for medically refractory epilepsy including: vagal nerve stimulators, temporal lobecotmies as well as staged resections using cortical mapping of seizure foci. WADA testing to evaluate speech and memory lateralization is performed by our neurointerventionalist. Our neurosurgeons work closely with the epilepsy neurologists to determine the optimal treatment plan.
