University Hospital of Brooklyn
The medical center, known as SUNY Downstate, as well as the attached University Hospital of Brooklyn (UHB) is the sponsoring institution. This site serves as the home base for the fellowship program and is the location of primary didactic lectures, research conferences, as well as the weekly case conference presentations by the first year fellows. Opened in 1966 University Hospital of Brooklyn is an 8 story, 376-bed facility in central Brooklyn with all clinical services including a transplant medicine, and a state of the art microbiology lab. Fellows will provide consultation services to all clinical departments within UHB and will see a wide variety of pathology.

Kings County Hospital Center
Kings County Hospital Center (KCHC) is a large municipal hospital with a level one trauma designation, located directly adjacent to SUNY Downstate. The large number of indigent & immigrant patients results in a diversity of pathology and exposes our residents to diverse socioeconomic & cultural backgrounds. Weekly microbiology didactic courses are designed specifically for the infectious diseases fellow. KCHC is also home of a flourishing STD/ID clinic where fellows will have an opportunity to serve patients on a weekly basis during their second year of fellowship.

Harboview VA Hospital
The Brooklyn Harborview VA Hospital is an integrated affiliate staffed by the Downstate faculty. The rotation provides time for research and independent study. The Brooklyn Campus of the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System is dedicated to providing quality health care to veterans using the abilities of all employees supported by our commitment to education and research. A wide variety of pathology can be found here- some past cases include babesiosis, infections related to travel medicine in veterans returning from abroad, mucormycosis, and histoplasmosis.

Long Island College Hospital
Long Island College Hospital Founded in 1858, the hospital has 516 beds. In 1860 it introduced the practice of bedside teaching and it later became the first U.S. hospital to use stethoscopes and anesthesia. Its collegiate division would later form the Downstate Medical Center, an academic unit of the State University of New York in 1948. Today it remains an academic affiliate of the SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
