Education:
Dr. Birnbaum obtained his MD from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, New York in 1986 and his MPH in Tropical Disease/Public Health from Columbia University in 1991

Postdoctoral Training:
Dr. Birnbaum completed his pediatric residency training program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and Kings County Hospital Center in 1989.
