Women and Infants Transmission Study
WOMEN AND INFANTS TRANSMISSION STUDY (WITS)
The Women and Infants Transmission Study (WITS) enrolls HIV positive pregnant women, follows them through pregnancy, and delivery (with the newborn) for the next two to five years. Study participants are provided ongoing counseling, periodic examinations and referral services for mothers and primary pediatric care, neurodevelopmental testing and referral services for the infants. Participation, if desired by pregnant HIV positive women, may be available in future trials of medication to reduce rates of perinatal HIV transmission. Funding for these studies is provided by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.
WITS is located on the 4th floor of the Basic Sciences Building, Room 4-114.
