Strategies for Management of Antiretrovital Therapy (SMART) Study
STRATEGIES FOR MANAGEMENT OF ANTIRETROVIRAL THERAPY (SMART) STUDY
The SMART Study is a large, long-term, international multi-center clinical trial that compares drug conservation (DC) versus viral suppression (VS) strategies for antiretroviral therapy. Enrollment began May 2002 and we expect to enroll 20-25 patients per year (a total of 6,000 from all sites will be enrolled). STAR Health Center participants are randomly assigned to the DC or VS arm, and then followed for 7 to 9 years. This study is funded by NIH through Community Programs for Clinical Research on AIDS (CPCRA).
