Application Information

As part of SUNY Downstate Medical Center's three part mission to provide excellence in education, research and clinical care with an emphasis on urban health concerns, Downstate sponsors graduate medical education for over 1000 residents and fellows in over 50 specialties and subspecialties.

SUNY Downstate Medical Center and its affiliated hospitals can provide you with an opportunity to be engaged in a training program that represents a cross-section of affiliates with varied patient case mix and outstanding medical teaching facilities. When you get appointed to the SUNY Downstate Medical Center Affiliated Hospitals Residency Programs, you will have the opportunity to benefit from experiencing clinical services at number of exceptional and diverse hospitals. At the start of your training, you will be assigned to a salary source at one affiliate which will determine your specific salary and benefits, while all are in parity with SUNY Downstate.

Once you are selected by one of our Residency/Fellowship Programs you will receive a welcome packet from the GME House Staff Office with instructions on what you will need to submit to verify your credentials. Please check out our Appointment Requirements.
