WHAT'S NEW

          1. News in Brief:

- New PCs coming to Downstate's classrooms and computer labs, with new machines already up and running in the Medical School computer lab and student carrels on the 5th & 6th floor of HSEB.

- Increased brandwidth & redundancy for Internet connectivity doubled the capacity of our Internet connection.

- RF Quick View, now available to Downstate researchers and administrators, provides quick access to award, project and task information.  It provides a more streamlined view of award balances & other information such as payroll and purchasing activities, supplier payments and reports due.


           2. Lawson Enterprise Resouce Planning Application - Implementation of the system in the Pharmacy Department is successful.  Wireless handheld devices are used to re-order supplies, replenishment process for the storeroom is automated, and Pharmacy's spend analytics and other related information can be viewed on a dashboard.  The transition from a paper-based manual system to an automated paperless system is complete.  For additional information, please call the Lawson Information Line at (718) 826-8023.


           3. 2007 SEFA Finance Division Internal Incentives - Approximately 47% of the Finance staff, 164 employees, participated in the 2007-08 centerwide SEFA Campaign.  Three areas in the Division: Hospital Finance, Hospital Outpatient and Research Administration, achieved 100% participation.  The Internal SEFA raffle was won by Ms. Tonya Williams of Hospital Patient Accounting.

           4. Summary of Recent Materials Management Bulletins:

- Confirming order transactions are in violation of the NYS Procurement Guidelines and will not be processed without the signature of either the President, COO or CFO.

- Corporate Express has been awarded by NYS Office of General Services as the prime vendor for the procurement of office supplies.

- NYS Public Officers Law prohibits NYS employees to provide goods or services to and receive payment from an agency of NYS if the value of the goods or services exceeds $25, unless the goods or services are provided pursuant to an award or contract let after public notice and competitive bidding.
