WHAT'S NEW

       1. Finance Division welcomes Mr. Alan Dzija, Mr. David Ho and Ms. Melanie Gehen

Alan Dzija was appointed Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in February, 2012.  He is charged with safeguarding the assets and financial health of Downstate, as well as ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations.  His role is an important link in Downstate's relationships with SUNY Central Administration.

David Ho was appointed Chief Financial Officer for Hospital Finance in March, 2012, to oversee all financial matters related to University Hospital of Brooklyn at each of its locations: Central Brooklyn, Long Island College Hospital, and Bay Ridge, as well as the satellite sites.

Melanie Gehen was appointed Vice President for Financial Affairs in October, 2012.  She provides financial leadership for the academic mission, a term that broadly encompasses all aspects of Downstate's financial enterprise.

        2. Congratulations to Mr. Paul Davis on his retirement

Paul Davis, former Interim Chief Financial Officer, retired from his State position in early 2012 and recently also resigned from his Treasurer and Director positions of the Health Science Center at Brooklyn Foundation, Downstate Technology Center, Faculty Student Association, StaffCo of Brooklyn and Downstate at LICH Holding Company.  Thank you Paul for your many years of devoted service to Downstate and it's affiliates.  Enjoy the retirement that you so deserve.

        3. Research Foundation

The Board of Directors of the Research Foundation of State University of New York has appointed Dr. Ian L. Taylor, Senior Vice President for Biomedical Education and Research and Dean of The College of Medicine, as the Operations Manager of Downstate Medical Center Office of Research Administration.  Dr. Taylor is located at the College of Medicine Dean's Office at Room 1-9, Basic Sciences Building, and can be reached at (718) 270-3776.
