Epilepsy Center Faculty![]() Douglas C. Maus, MD, PhDAbout: Dr. Douglas Maus grew up in Clearwater, Florida, spending some summers teaching disabled children to swim. After college in St. Louis and graduate school at MIT in Cambridge, MA, he went to the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia for medical school, residency in Neurology, and fellowship in Epilepsy. His wife, a native New Yorker, was then finally able to entice him to New York, where he joined the SUNY Downstate Epilepsy Center in 2008. In addition to treating patients with epilepsy, Dr. Maus has an active research program investigating whether EEG signals can be better used to pinpoint where and when seizures will start. As a doctor with a family member with epilepsy that is not controlled by medication, he hopes that such research can one day contribute to better treatments for epilepsy. |
