Course Description
Students will be assigned to an academic faculty preceptor and will follow the faculty member's schedule. Under direct supervision of the attending, students will rotate through different areas of the King's County and Downstate Emergency departments. In addition to the clinical experience, the student will be required to participate in the academic reserach and administrative activities of the department as determined by the supervising attending. By the end of the rotation, students will acquire additional experience in Emergency Medicine as well as an introduction to the didactic, research and administrative functions of an academic emergency medicine faculty member. Students may NOT register for this elective through the lottery; permission is required by the course director and faculty preceptor.
