Course Description
Students will attend lectures on important topics in medical toxicology. Class would be held twice per week for 1.5 to 2 hours for a total of 4 hours per week. There will be required readings and a 10-page paper. A final examination will be given on the last day. Grading will be pass/fail. Students will go to the New York City Poison Center (Bellevue) and answer calls with the poison specialists for a total of 20 hours. They will also attend the monthly conference with Dr. Wiener on the first Thursday of the month from 2PM-4PM in lieu of lecture that day. Students will perform weekly bedside teaching rounds in the Emergency Departments of King's County Hospital and University Hospital at Brooklyn. Class will be held twice per week for 3-4 hours for a total of 6-8 hours.
